As a hushed design world waited with bated breath, you could have heard a pin drop in anticipation for the announcement of the Pantone Color of the Year.

Pantone Colour of the Year

And it's Emerald, aka Pantone 17-5641 TCX. Lively. Radiant. Lush… A colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony. It reminds us of peaceful forests, movies about girls with red slippers and opulent royalty.

Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Throughout history, this luminous, magnificent hue has been reflective of beauty and new life. As the colour of growth, renewal and prosperity – no other colour conveys regeneration more than green.

Pantone colour of the Year 2013, has lead to a range of spin off brand opportunities at which Pantone has leapt at. Bringing the name once synonymous with offset printing and commercial design production to the mainstream vernacular. Most exciting of these is a recent partnership with cosmetics brand Sephora, bringing to you a range of Pantone branded treats which have since leapt to the top of this designers wish list!

So this year, keep Emerald in your mind, it will most certainly be making an appearance on this RADAR....
